What happens when something goes wrong while you are interacting with the API? Mistakes happen, so let's take a look at some status codes and error types you might encounter.
You can tell if your request was successful by checking the status code when receiving an API response. If a response comes back unsuccessful, you can use the error type and error message to figure out what has gone wrong and do some rudimentary debugging.
Before reaching out to support with an issue, please carefully check your code for any variables incorrectly typed and headers not correctly passed along.
Here is a list of the different categories of status codes returned by the Marvel Rivals API. Use these to understand if a request was successful.
200
OK
A 200 status code indicates a successful response.
400
Bad Request
The request was malformed — bad request structure or missing required parameters
401
Unauthorized
Invalid or missing API key
404
Not Found
This indicates that the URL the client requested does not exist on the server
429
Too Many Requests
Too many requests hit the API too quickly
5xx
Server Errors
Something went wrong on our end
